Converting Server Side Image Maps to Client Side
If map conversion is not performed, WebCD Packager sets properties for links to server side image maps to Do Not Retrieve. That is, they are Live-Links to the Web site. When a user running your WebCD encounters these maps, one of the following occurs:
(1) WebCD will attempt to access the Live-Link, or
(2) If there is no live connection, the user receives their browser's standard message for "page not found".
Conversion Steps
1 | Verify the conversion function is turned on (default) by viewing the Convert server side image map to client side option in the Retrieval Options dialog, accessed by selecting Options from the Retrieve menu. |
2 | Place the server side image maps for a project into the .á.á.WebCD Packager\Projects\project-folder\Maps folder. For example, if your project is named MyProject, and you installed WebCD Packager in the default folder (C:\Program Files\MarketScape\WebCD Packager), place the server side image maps for the project into C:\Program Files\MarketScape\WebCD Packager\Projects\MyProject\Maps. The Maps folder must be created and populated by the Webmaster or someone familiar with the Web siteÆs image maps and HTML files. The map files in this folder should correspond to the map files referenced in the HTML files on the Web site. |
3 | AFTER you populate the Maps folder, make sure the maps are retrieved into your WebCD Packager project.
|
4 | Perform the normal Packager Retrieval and Build functions for your project. Server maps are converted during the build at the "fixing links" step. |
